Ooh LaLa.......

Although I will admit that Lady Gaga does frighten me at times with her Garb! But the fact remains that she is quite interesting..... So upon visiting a friend at work I was walking through the cosmetic dept. at Macy's and came across the new M.A.C Viva Glam Poster with none other then Miss Cyndi Lauper and Yes Lady Gaga..

I knew the two were pairing up for something but never cared enough to pay that close attention as to what.
So upon noticing the poster and saying wow Miss Cyndi sure does look good..... My friends says oh yea they put out some lipstick colors for M.A.C
and I said hey I really Love Lady Gaga's shade so from there I had to have it....
and sure enough I bought it (plus 2 Lip glosses).

Viva Glam Gaga

And of course its called Gaga

I bought said lipstick because of its pretty pink shade....
and not a bad price for a Lipstick $14
plus I did a good deed by buying this pretty lipstick where all the proceeds are donated to The HIV/AIDS Charities

Have You Ever Wondered?

Have you ever Wondered about a house that looked abandoned and you couldn't help but think whats the story behind it? I think that we all did as kids! You forget about these times when you were younger and it takes a great story for them to be rekindled!

I was driving to work on Sunday night listening to NPR's This American Life with Ira Glass and the tale "House On Loon Lake" was the story of the week and as I drove along I am listening to them describe it as a " Real life Hardy Boys".
Normally I get so wrapped up in driving and just getting to my destination that I hardly pay attention to whats on the radio. But for some reason today I was all ears. I couldn't help but get wrapped up into what the speakers of my car where allowing me to listen to.... and that's when it all sparked the memories of my childhood. A group of kids who made up tales about abandoned house's....... but just like the program asked "do you go in?" Or do you leave it be and continue to believe your own tales?

Unlike the story that was playing on the radio I left the house be and continued to believe my own wise tales on what could have happened! The story continued and the man was telling his tales of when he went into this house and I felt as if I were right there with him exploring the house with the same fears and excitement...... This is what could have happened to us! If only.......

I continued to listen hoping that I was going to be able to finish the rest before I had to be into work. I was transfixed by it! My heart pounded when they described exploring the home.... and my heart broke while describing the abandoned letters they had found! I was dumbfounded by how emotional I was getting over it The words continued and I continued to listen.... I wanted to know the outcome just like an impatient reader!!!! Except I couldn't cheat and go to the end of the book to look!
They continued to read on and I was growing impatient because I wasn't going to be able to finish listening to the program and I was growing sad and disappointed! I wanted the outcome.... I felt like a child that had just been punished!

I went into work feeling as if something were missing. I was a little sad that I couldn't stay in my car and finish listening. But before I left the car I wrote down all the information I need to see if i could find it hoping that they posted them online! When I arrived home later that night I went directly to my computer to check to see if NPR happen to post this weeks story. I felt like the kid in the Christmas story so impatient to decode his little orphan annie secret message!

And to my luck they surely did post it! I was relieved and excited. I finally got to finish it! Triumph! To my surprise I had only missed 20 min of the rest of the story. The feelings where still there and I felt as if I were helping with the mystery and trying to uncover the truth. As they finished telling me the last bit I was left with a bittersweet feelings some relief and bewilderment.

But hey I guess that's to be expected right?

When your driving or walking around some where do you ever stop and see a building and wonder? Wonder what it's original purpose was? Wonder what it was like back then when they built it? I wonder this all the time! These are times that I wish I could go back and sneak a peak of what it was really like. The curiosity in us sometimes wishes that you could really feel an era instead of just having a sense of what it was like. What we find to be extraordinary about those times was so ordinary back in that time!

The curiosity, wonder and imagination are what make these stories come to life!
The question is: Do you go in? Or do you leave it be and continue to believe your own tales?

You can find the story at This American life "House On Loon Lake"

How Do I Love Thee? Let Me Tell You The Ways......

This is my own little tribute to Valentines Day......
I have never had a valentines day where I was with someone who cared enough to get me the ordinary things most men get there loved one on this hallmark holiday......
I love the Romanticism of this day and I love what it could be........
So here is my own little tribute to things that I love........
why fester in not having someone and post things that make me delighted!!!
I made the list as if someone was asking me questions. Enjoy!

Most romantic thing someone ever told you?

I was asked what my favorite color was ?
and to be honest I don't have one!
So in turn I asked him what he thought my favorite color should be?
His response was Violet. And I asked him why? He said its because your personality is so complex and beautiful like the color Violet where you can see blues and purples and reds and pinks...... Its not just one color! Just like you! I have to admit that when I heard that my heart fluttered!! I love that it was romantic but not in a cheesy way!

Favorite Animal?

I Love Owls!
I look at them and cant help but feel that i want one for a pet!
I know that's ridiculous but I think they are the cutest things.

Everyone's question to me is:
Whats your Favorite Flower?

And most people are surprised by the Answer

CARNATIONS!
the meaning of a Carnation is
Bonds of affection; health and energy; fascination; woman love

I have always had a Love for all flowers. But I love the carnation because of there ruffle.

Favorite Place?
Now I'm not putting like a city in because I haven't been everywhere so how would you know?
So instead I'm putting a place that I like to go.

New York Botanical Garden Conservatory.
Only at this place can i walk around and be relaxed and fascinated for hours on end.

Song that makes you think of love?

So Real By Jeff Buckley

There is a line in the song that makes me smile
" Remember the smell of the fabric of your simple city dress"

Song that makes you want to fall in love?

Elusive by Scott Matthews

Beautiful Song!

Favorite Crafting Material?

Ribbon! Ribbon of all kinds too.....

You can do anything with ribbon and turn it into so many things!

Style that reflects my personality?

I like to think that I have such a complex personality that I don't have just one style but I'm going with what style would fit my mood and this would be it!

Picture of Inspiration?

I don't have just one but this one has had me intrigued! I have a love of Pirates...
But I wanted to make a head piece with a pirate ship and while I was surfing for pictures I came across this and fell in love!

And Finally.......
Favorite Love Story?
How could I resist?
there are so many great love stories out there....
The one that captures my heart is.....
Pride And Prejudice.
Ahhh.... Mr. Darcy
How I Love Thee!

Mr. Darcy: How are you this evening, my dear?
Elizabeth Bennet: Very well... although I wish you would not call me "my dear."
Mr. Darcy: [chuckles] Why?
Elizabeth Bennet: Because it's what my father always calls my mother when he's cross about something.
Mr. Darcy: What endearments am I allowed?
Elizabeth Bennet: Well let me think...”Lizzie" for every day, "My Pearl" for Sundays, and...”Goddess Divine"... but only on *very* special occasions.
Mr. Darcy: And... what should I call you when I am cross? Mrs. Darcy...?
Elizabeth Bennet: No! No. You may only call me "Mrs. Darcy"... when you are completely, and perfectly, and incandescently happy.
Mr. Darcy: [he snickers] Then how are you this evening... Mrs. Darcy?
[kisses her on the forehead]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her on the right cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her on the nose]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[kisses her on the left cheek]
Mr. Darcy: Mrs. Darcy...
[finally kisses her on the mouth]

And My heart Melts........

Fire up the jet old chap i wanna go back........

while I was doing a daily search on etsy this morning I came across a necklace that was made from a picture of a nut that was called a devil head from china. This instantly triggered a memory from my childhood of a place that I lived briefly when I was 6... A short train ride from New York city along the Hudson river and just a short trip from Fahnestock memorial state park a wonderful play ground for the outdoor enthusiast .

This place has a special place in my heart and wish I could live there forever!!!
When I was 6 my mother myself and brother moved into a loft apartment on main st. just upstairs from the local bar and not even a mile from the local school that was grade k-12. This town was and still is considered a antiquing town! I remember having my window open on a hot summer night and I could hear the auctioneer screaming the prices in his monotone rhyme. The soft beat from the jukebox downstairs vibrating me to sleep. Walking down to the river front to smell the river and collect devil heads on the stone shore. Walking to school and it actually being up hill both ways! Getting ice cream at the local pizza parlor on our way home from school..... Picking tulips from the older women's front garden. Getting yelled at by the same women for picking her flowers and telling us to ask her to cut them for us instead of us pulling out her bulbs! playing in the play ground that I thought was so big and so far away..... And to my surprise it was small and very close to the home....

When I went back for the first time after abandoning this magical place I think I appreciated it more and missed it just as much. I could help but be proud that i had given a little of my childhood to have a memory as strong as this unique place that I now hold so close to my heart and wish I could still be living there...... It's the whole of this town that if you have been there then you know what I am talking about! Its magic and beauty that capture you and the surroundings make you wonder does this place exist or is this a dream?

Yes indeed it does exist its a small town in the Hudson valley just along the river.....
Cold Spring, New York..... A magical place that just might bring back your imagination.....

The history of the town and the architecture I could find pictures the display its beauty
Full of abandoned castles and foundries. there is a ton of mystery that surrounds this town as well. Totally worth the trip if you ever decide you do want to go.

Upon my return to New York next year I promise when i visit my old stomping ground i will take a slew of photos for you!!!!
